What can we help you with?

How do I export a file from the .ris database?

One way to obtain an EasyBib citation from a database is by using a .ris (Research Information Systems, Incorporated) upload. This process involves exporting a file from the database and uploading it to an EasyBib project.

Note: This functionality is available for Pro users only.
  1. Look up the article you wish to cite on the database of your choice (for this example we will be using EBSCO).
  2. Under the export options, there should be a .ris option. Select it and save, taking note of where and under what name the file is saved.
Note: Need help finding your downloaded .ris? Most default options place it in the Downloads folder, which is usually accessible through a menu option called "downloads" available on most browsers. If you cannot find the file, try redownloading it and making sure to click the desktop option to save it to your desktop, where it should be easily findable later. If this can't help you, try a quick Google search of your question.
  3. Go to www.EasyBib.com and create or log in to an existing Pro account to continue. In the bibliography search bar, click All 59 options and select Upload / database import from the presented list.
  4. Click Choose File whether or not you would like to include the abstract, and select if you would like to create a new list for the imported bibliography .ris file, or if you'd like to add it to an existing list.  When your options are set, click Import
  5. The File import status bar below these selections should show the .ris file as in progress; hit the "Reload to update" in order to see whether or not the .ris upload was successful.
  6. If the bar turns green, and the Status changes to Finished, your bibliography should be successfully imported

Congratulations, and enjoy working with your new citation.
