What is CSL?

Last Updated: Jul 22, 2015 02:02PM EDT
Some of our users have questions about how we are able to provide such a vast array of citation styles! We use a tool called Citation Style Language (CSL), which is an XML-based language that formats and and arranges citations in the appropriate style. Like many kinds of programming, it required an inordinate amount of initial work create, but now that its a widely distributed tool, it helps students and professionals across the world create citations correctly, every day.

CSL was developed by Bruce D'Arcus, a professor of human geography.
